HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!

I can only take so much credit for today’s autumn DC engagement photos. So much came together to create some of my favorite photos from last fall and I’m excited to tell you all about it!
Two Locations
Jessica and Brandon were about to move out of D.C. and back to their home state, but before they left, they wanted to capture their engagement photos in the city they love. The Capitol Hill area has special meaning to these two love birds, and they wanted to include the quintessential D.C. landmarks. Since that was the case, we did an extended session and went to both locations for the autumn DC engagement photos.
Royal Blue
I said I can’t take all the credit for how beautiful these photos are and that’s the truth! First of all, Jessica and Brandon are super cute together – and a good looking couple, obvs. Plus their outfits were on point! I love the royal blue and the way it stands out against the white marble at both the Capitol and Lincoln. And I want all of Jessica’s second outfit! Those second outfits looked so good against the autumn foliage at Constitution Gardens.
Light, Light, and More Light
Another element that really brought together Jessica and Brandon’s beautiful autumn DC engagement photos is the light and the way it worked on this day. It stayed just cloudy enough for just long enough that we could get lots of gorgeous photos in front of the Capitol dome before the sun was shining directly on the building, making it too bright and washed out. Then it got a little cloudier so that when we went to the Lincoln the sun wasn’t shining directly on the building there either (that can also cause a little bit of an issue). And finally, exactly when we walked over to Constitution Gardens the sun came out so we got some beautiful glow behind the willow trees. It was the perfect light story for these locations and I am thrilled with how it impacted the photos.
Beautiful Couple
OK, back to my gorgeous couple! Jessica and Brandon met in NYC, but lived in DC and fell in the love in DC. They live just off the Mall and worked on the Hill, so both places hold a special place in their hearts and I’m glad they now have lots of beautiful photos to remember their time and love here.
This pose was Brandon’s idea and I just love it!
Obsessed with these photos and Jessica’s outfit!
