HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!

You may have guessed – I love my job. It’s so special being able to document people’s most joyous moments and memories they want to savor for the rest of their lives. It becomes that much more special when I get to use my work to document and celebrate family members. And that’s just what you’ll see in today’s summer Kennedy Center engagement photos.
I got to take summer Kennedy Center engagement photos for none other than my brother, Steve (or Steven, as his family calls him!), and his fiancée, Liz! Oh, and their pup, Oakleigh. Can’t forget him!
Steve and Liz have been together for several years now, and recently bought a home together in the same beautiful new neighborhood where our mom lives, just outside Baltimore, MD. (Their house is amazeballs, y’all – just saying! You’ve probably seen it if you follow me on IG stories since they host our holiday celebrations there. #kitchengoals) In February, they ventured off to Iceland for my brother’s birthday and so Liz could take a cool (get the pun?) photography class (she does photography too!). It was there, under the northern lights, that Steve popped the question and Liz, of course, said yes! (Duh, because my brother is the best!)
Liz was excited to have their engagement photos taken at a lavender field, which I was totally excited about too! Unfortunately, in late July, all of the lavender has pretty much died off or been burnt to a crisp in the heat. Womp womp. After checking with three farms (and even sending my dad to scout one near his house – this session really was a family affair! haha), I had almost given up on the idea. That was until I was at the Kennedy Center for another session, and noticed there are mini fields of beautiful purple flowers there! I figured that was as close as we were gonna get – and oh my goodness, those photos are some of my favs from their whole session!
I’m so excited that my incredible brother has found his perfect match – someone who loves and adores him the way he deserves, and who he loves and adores just as much. You can see it in their summer Kennedy Center engagement photos – these two are a wonderful pair who clearly enjoy each other. I guess I should say trio, because Oakleigh sure loves and adores them too and I think the feeling’s mutual!
Congratulations lil’ bro, and best wishes and welcome to the family to my soon-to-be sis-in-law!
