HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!
micro WEDDINGS
elopements
It’s been so fun meeting all the couples whose weddings I’m getting to photograph this and next year over the past month! Last week I got to meet REHP love birds, Julia and Michael, and I’m excited to share their Georgetown DC engagement photos with you today!
Julia and Michael met through mutual friends while in college at Auburn University in Alabama. Their love story is so sweet, y’all! They were friends while in college and kept in touch after they graduated. Michael moved to Charleston, S.C., and Julia moved back home to Maryland. Julia was looking to make a change and decided to move to South Carolina as well. She reached out to Michael, who needed a roommate, so she moved in with him. And the rest, as they say, is history!
Michael planned the sweetest proposal that showed how much he really knows Julia: he popped the question at home, where they love spending time together – where they truly fell in love. And Julia’s fav part? Michael gave her a Martha Stewart weddings book along with her (stunning) engagement ring. Now that is a thoughtful man!
Julia and Michael recently moved back to the D.C. area, hence why we were able to take their Georgetown D.C. engagement photos. Julia’s mom graciously joined us to babysit their precious pup, Cooper, between photos so that we could easily include him when we wanted. Cooper was so well behaved and cooperative for his pictures! He even sat still for his own headshot. He is just the sweetest!
The story of Julia and Michael’s Georgetown DC engagement session was kind of magical! When I left my house in Arlington, the skies were blue and clear. The closer I got to Georgetown, though, the darker the skies became. I’m talking like night time dark! The wind picked up and it looked super ominous. I decided to trust in the weather app and crossed my fingers it was correct in that it wasn’t going to storm where we were. We totally lucked out! We endured a little wind and a few sprinkles of rain for like five minutes and it cleared up! We even got some sunshine at sunset. I think Julia and Michael are good luck!
As I got to know these two throughout their engagement session, I discovered how sweet and giggly they are together. I just know their September wedding at Woodend Sanctuary is going to be wonderful <3
Look at adorable Cooper! Doesn’t it look like he’s smiling?!
How radiant does she look?!
