Hi there! Oh, it’s been a hot minute since I did a Fun Monday blog post and I thought this morning would be a great time to start back up! Especially since I have some beautiful photos from a Hay-Adams surprise proposal this weekend to share!
Friday I got a message from my doctor saying she had a proposal referral for me (gotta love it when your doctor knows how much you love to photograph proposals! haha). I was super excited because proposals are top of my list of favorite things to photograph. I love the excitement, the anticipation, the romance, the sheer joy, the surprise, the tears, the ring… definitely the ring, and the extra challenge and planning that comes along with photographing a marriage proposal. I talked with Jasson about his plans to propose to his girlfriend the following day, and I was totally there for what he had planned!
I spent Saturday doing some work and preparing for Jasson’s Hay-Adams surprise proposal that evening. He was popping the question at The Lafayette – the in-house restaurant at the hotel – so I got all dolled up because that is one fancy place! The host and hostess at the restaurant were super helpful and got me all set up at a table within clear view of Jasson and Madeline’s table.
I’ve never photographed a proposal indoors, much less in an upscale restaurant with other people within a few feet of me, so I tried to be as inconspicuous with my big black camera and flash as possible! Between the wait staff and me, it was like a well orchestrated covert operation, complete with secret notes being passed and subtle whispers. So.fun. Man, I love my job!
They brought out the couple’s dessert, which included the ring by Washington Diamond on a beautiful floral display designed by the hotel, and Madeline knew immediately! She began laughing and got really excited as Jasson went down on one knee. It was magical and romantic and I’m so happy I was there to capture it!
Sunday was spent in a somewhat less fancy and exciting way than photographing a Hay-Adams surprise proposal: working and errand running. I am excited to have gotten some new lightbulbs for my apartment that are bright and white (no more orange light!), as well as new silverware that isn’t end heavy so it won’t fall off my plate! (Long story…) And I finally got a power strip for behind my tv so I could plug in one of my favorite Christmas gifts: this miniature original Nintendo that hosts like ALL the old games! I spent a good hour playing Mario Brothers 1-3 and loved every second!
On tap for this week, a couple Best of 2018 blog posts and lots of time out of the office connecting with friends and fellow business owners! Have a great week everyone!
