One of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer is getting to be present for special moments, getting to witness true love right before my eyes. And sometimes the day gets so busy those moments get away from me and it’s not until later that it all sinks in. Such was the case with Steph & Nikki’s Blue Valley Vineyard wedding this weekend in Delaplane, Virginia.
Steph and Nikki, and their stellar vendor team, put together an absolutely beautiful autumn Blue Valley Vineyard wedding. As often happens on wedding days, things moved pretty quickly and I was focused on what I was doing plus planning for what was coming next. But there was one moment when everything converged for me and I felt the significance and importance of the day. I was photographing Steph and Nikki’s gorgeous autumn-inspired bouquets when I realized – there were two bouquets, for two brides. Two beautiful brides who were celebrating this love they had found, before friends, family, and a slew of supportive vendors. It was a special moment I’ll always remember.
One of the sweetest things about Steph and Nikki’s Blue Valley Vineyard wedding was that both brides got ready together in the same room! Kind of a rarity in the wedding world, and it just added an extra bit of one-ness to their day. They got to experience the entire day together and that felt so special.
Steph and Nikki met each other slightly later in life, and that’s a long time to wait for your ‘one’. Your true love. Their vows expressed how lucky they felt to finally have met the exact person their souls had asked for – to finally be marrying each other. Those vows brought the room to tears; I could seriously hear the sniffling all around me! Their wedding ceremony and commitments to each other were so beautiful to witness.
Thank you, ladies, for choosing me to capture your special day. Best wishes to you both on your new life together! May you always be surrounded with as much love and support as you were on your wedding day.
Thank you to everyone who made Steph and Nikki’s day so beautiful, easy, and fun!
