HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!
micro WEDDINGS
elopements
You may remember Angela and George from their Belle Haven Park engagement photos earlier this summer, but I remember them as being some of the nicest, sweetest couples I’ve had the chance to photograph! Angela and George were just as sweet on the day of their Alexandria, Virginia wedding this past weekend, despite a lot of factors that could have been working against them, that I think actually made their wedding day that much more extradorinaiy and meaningful.
After Angela and George’s engagement session, I kept in touch to let them know that although they didn’t have definite wedding plans just yet, I would be excited to see them again to photograph their wedding (of course!). Angela updated me a few weeks later to let me know they planned to move up their wedding considerably – from sometime next year to this September! She explained that, sadly, her father is terminally ill, so they planned to move up their big day so he could walk her down the aisle.
Two weeks might not sound like a lot of time to plan a wedding (and I’m sure Angela and George would tell you it’s not!), but these two, with their help of their friends and families, coordinated a beautiful, thoughtful, meaningful Alexandria, Virginia wedding day. They even had to contend with rain the day of (which is actually good luck!) – but that didn’t slow them down one bit! They still held their sweet ceremony with lots of personal touches outdoors and we even got lots of outdoor portraits!
Angela and George were married on the banks of the Potomac River for their Alexandria, Virginia wedding where Angela’s father was able to escort her down the aisle in one of the most touching moments of the day. The couple then whisked away to Old Town for their reception at Il Porto Ristorante on King Street. From the heartfelt, humorous toasts (George’s best man was a HOOT!), to the sentimental parents’ dances, to the seriously lively party dancing that was going on (again, George’s best man is a hoot!), their reception was one to be remembered – just like the rest of their day!
Congratulations and best wishes to the newlyweds! I hope you spend the rest of your lives feeling as loved as you felt on your wedding day.
Thank you to everyone who helped bring together Angela & George’s beautiful day!
