HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!
micro WEDDINGS
elopements
It was this past weekend when I was re-watching the scene from The Office (and bawling my eyes out per usual) where Pam and Jim get married that I realized exactly what it is about elopements and courthouse weddings that I adore: marriage is about two people, two souls, and their love. Watching Pam and Jim steal away to get married by the Captain on the Niagara Falls ferry brought me back to two days before to Tansha and Chris’s D.C. courthouse wedding. Tansha and Chris were stealing away too – stripping everything else away and getting down to what really matters: their love, their souls becoming one. What’s more romantic (and tear jerking) than that?
Speaking of tear jerking, Chris gave a little speech during their wedding ceremony that had me boohooing pretty badly! Tansha and Chris exchanged vows at their D.C. courthouse wedding before their family and friends, and when the officiant asked if either would like to say anything (kind of rare for courthouse weddings), Chris piped up with the most beautiful, heartwarming, romantic words for his bride. There was not a dry eye in the room!
After Tansha and Chris said their I Do’s during their D.C. courthouse wedding, we all headed over to Constitution Gardens for portraits. Tansha and Chris love the outdoors (they got engaged at the top of a mountain!) and they equally love Washington, D.C., so they wanted to take their wedding portraits at a location that included both some greenery of the outdoors as well as a prominent feature of their beloved city. Constitution Gardens came to mind and I’m so happy Tansha and Chris were excited about it as well!
Thank you to the newlyweds for inviting me along on this part of your journey and giving me the honor of photographing your D.C. courthouse wedding. Everything about your day was beautiful and I hope you enjoyed your time in the mountains! Cheers!
