HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!

There’s something about a D.C. cherry blossoms maternity session that just seems so apropos. The beautiful blossoms signify spring, a rebirth of seasons, and that’s so easily translates to celebrating the impending birth of a new baby. I was so excited when Tika contacted me to set up her maternity session at the D.C. cherry blossoms this winter! All we had to do was wait a couple months for the cherry blossoms to make their debut! And it was a long wait… haha
The cherry blossoms took their sweet time getting to peak bloom this year, which was totally OK for my other clients who had engagement or family sessions booked. But I will admit I was getting a little nervous when it came to Tika’s D.C. cherry blossoms maternity session because Tika and her husband John are due with their baby at the end of April and peak bloom finally happened the second week of the month! Thankfully their little one waited for us to capture our photos and hasn’t made a debut just yet!
Everything went off without a hitch! I met Tika and John at the Tidal Basin for their D.C. cherry blossoms engagement session and the blooms were just gorgeous! They were bright and pink and fluffy, everything Tika was looking forward to. And I just love how she gave a nod to the cherry blossoms with her outfit choices! There were pink florals in both her outfits! Both outfits, which were expertly coordinated with what her hubby was wearing. They looked sharp!
I think some of my favorite photos from this session are the ones where we were in the little forest of cherry blossoms, completely surrounded in what felt like a fairy tale. We even put John to work gently shaking some branches to get petals to fall and float all around Tika in all her expectant glory! Like I said, just like a fairy tale.
Congratulations to Tika and John! Enjoy your photos as you await the arrival of your little one.
