Happy Friday! In my last Friday post (here) I explained how I’m going to be sharing something new, something fresh. I’ve been struggling with what to name this series because the truth is the stuff I’m going to share is all a part of a journey that’s still unfolding – an in-focus unfolding if you will. And how do you name something that isn’t fully developed? I didn’t want this debate to become a ‘stop’, so here I am, back to share more today, name or no name. Here to share more things I’m scared to tell you.
So what is this ‘in-focus unfolding’ series going to be about? As I said in my last post, I’ve felt a little lost in the people-focused photography community or wedding industry side of photography because I don’t fit into the Christian identity that’s so prevalent. While I identify with the uplifting, positive, faith focused messages, the details don’t apply to my life. I’ve avoided sharing what I do believe because it didn’t fit into that community and I was feeling a little lost. Finally I’ve come to accept that’s a limitation I was putting on myself and it’s OK for me to share my own life’s journey. It’s not just OK, it’s necessary for me in order to be fully present as myself in my business.
There’s a quote I love by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin (ironic to this discussion, he was a Jesuit priest!) – “We are not humans having a spiritual experience. We are spirits having a human experience.” In a nutshell, that’s the basis of what I believe. There’s so much that goes into that, and that’s what I will explore in this series. Everything from my health & wellness journey to how I came to quit my day job. My experience working with business coaches, quantum physics, the Law of Attraction, meditation, and how it all continues to twist, turn, and intertwine to bring me to where I am today in my business.
Each post will have a topic and I’ll do my best to keep it relevant to my business, but most importantly, I want to share all this in a way that will resonate with you. That can maybe shed light on how your own journey is unfolding, spark some thoughts, and foster connection between us. One of my values is ‘connection’, and my goal for these posts is to create more of that.
For today I’ll leave you with some more pictures from my trip to California last month. Enjoy, and I’ll be here again next week. Next Friday’s An In-Focus Unfolding topic: the story of how I came to discover my values.
