Today’s post is the second in a series about your wedding photography investment. Last week I told you why I love referring to it as an ‘investment’ versus a ‘cost’ or a ‘price’ and hopefully the information resonated with you. (Read that post here.) Today I’m sharing why your client experience is super important to consider when making your wedding photography investment.
We all know that at the end of working with a photographer, you’re going to have some tangible takeaways: the photos – either prints, digital files, or both. (More on that in a later post.) The intangible piece to your investment is your client experience. (Click here to watch the Facebook Live I did on what exactly ‘client experience’ is.)
Many people who are getting married haven’t had the opportunity to hire a photographer or be in front of the camera, so maybe it’s not front of mind that they should think about how they will feel in those moments. I’ve had my headshots taken twice, so I can personally attest to how weird it is to have someone pointing a camera in your face and the pressure you feel to make your photos great! I imagine that pressure is much greater on your wedding day, which brings me to my point:
Working with a professional photographer who you connect with; who is competent; who will be communicative, patient, and give you lots of instruction and encouragement is paramount to not only getting great results in your images, but to how you will feel at the end of your wedding day.
You’re going to be spending all.day. with your wedding photographer. It’s going to be you, your new spouse, and your photographer. Quite the merry trio! To my mind, the end of results of the photos are one thing to consider, but of equal importance is being conscious of the kind of person you want to be around for 8+ hours on your wedding day, the most important day of your life thus far. The best case scenario is to find someone capable of creating and delivering the images you want who is also the kind of person you want to be around for long periods of time. Do yourself a favor – make the investment in that person and in that experience for yourself.
Tune in next #weddingwednesday for more on another aspect of client experience: workflow!
