How did everyone spend their mid December weekend?! This weekend officially marked that we have less than ten days until Christmas and technically less that ten shopping days too. Eep! I enjoyed a little time off and still managed to take some photos 🙂
Friday night was spent in true solopreneur-with-a-day-job fashion: cramming in some work! I ended up binge watching the videos from the Katelyn James Lighting and Locations course. I felt like such a nerd because I just ate them up! It was so fun and gratifying watching another photographer do her thing – doing many of the same things I do at a session! I gained lots of tips and tricks and can’t wait to put them into action in the new year!
Saturday I got all bundled up for a little excursion to Homestead Gardens in Davidsonville, Maryland. I’ve been to Homestead Gardens a hundred times throughout my life and remembered it being so festive during the holiday season. I thought it was the perfect way to spend a December weekend, perusing the aisles full of holiday decor, marveling at the dozens of Christmas trees, listening to the sound of the model train blowing its horn. And of course taking photos of all of it.
At the end I walked away with nothing but a bag of soil and a bone for Milli – haha! But a festive time was had nonetheless.
This is so bad, y’all: I remembered there was a new (well, new to me) Sonic in Edgewater/Mayo area, so we headed there next! I went to college in South Carolina where you can’t shake a stick without hitting a Sonic. But up north, they are really few and far between! You’ve gotta take advantage of Sonic access while you have it! I got my fix of breakfast burrito (with tater tots inside), French toast sticks, and coconut cream pie shake and was one happy camper! Oh my gosh, it was all just as tasty as I remembered.
I spent Saturday night getting ready for my brother and his girlfriend’s late night arrival. They spent the night before I drove them to the airport Sunday morning for their trip to FIJI! Fiji. Yep, my brother is in Fiji for two weeks! I am super excited for their big vacay (and maybe a teensy bit jealous! haha). Also happy that his girlfriend is a fellow photog, so I know I’ll have some great photos to see when they come back! Sad my lil’ bro will be away for Christmas but I’m glad he’s at least somewhere amazeballs.
Yesterday I lazied around all day before making a Blue Apron dinner and watching a couple episodes of DARK on Netflix. . . . And we may have ended up sneaking in The Santa Clause while we were at it 😛 The perfect ending to a December weekend!
On tap this week, at least one more blog post before the break for the holiday! Have a great week before Christmas everyone!
