HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!
micro WEDDINGS
elopements
I am SO excited to share these National Harbor wedding photos today! Olin & Sidney were married aboard the National Elite, docked in Oxon Hill, MD, on the Potomac River, while the sun set behind the horizon, just past the water’s edge. It was the most picturesque ceremony location I have ever seen & perfectly suited this long time couple.
Olin & Sidney met over twenty years ago and have been together ever since. Although they committed to one another some years ago, sealing their love in a civil ceremony with beautiful wedding bands, they were unable to legally wed until recently. They were both excited to make their long time commitment and partnership legal!
Sidney & Olin made it official this past weekend, before a boat load (literally!) of family and friends. It was such an incredible celebration! There were tears, laughter, dancing, and cheers – and that was just during the ceremony! And I’m not even going to try to hide the fact that one of my favorite parts of the ceremony was that their adorable dog, Lollipop, got to participate!
Since O & S were married before using wedding bands to symbolize their commitment to each other, for this ceremony, they exchanged bracelets. These bracelets will forever be a meaningful symbol to each other of the commitment they made at their National Harbor wedding ceremony.
After the ceremony and the sunset, Olin & Sidney welcomed their guests to the bottom levels of the boat for drinks, dinner, and more celebrating. The National Elite set sail down the Potomac while their loved ones toasted their love, roasted them just a little, and cheered as they cut and shared the wedding cake.
There were so many memorable moments throughout the evening, but since the night was filled with so much joy and laughter, I’m going to highlight one of the funnier moments: Olin told the story of how he and Sidney met… with one extra detail people didn’t usually get to hear! When Sidney opened the door to see Olin, who was there to pick him up for their first date, Sidney said under his breath, “Oh good, you aren’t ugly!” Hahaha! Honesty, right from the very beginning! Love it!
Congratulations to these two long time loves and newlyweds! I wish you many more years of happiness & laughter together!
Big thanks to all the vendors who helped make Olin & Sidney’s National Harbor wedding so special!
