Good morning! And happy Monday! I feel I need to warn you up front that this post contains images that may be disturbing to some. This is a read at your own risk kind of post! If you’re creeped out by or afraid of spiders, this might not be the post for you! haha So, that pretty much means I shouldn’t read it either! But alas, I’m slowly pushing past the fear because I took some awesome pics of a spider yesterday! Keep reading at your own risk 😉
I started the weekend with dinner at Texas Jack’s in Arlington. We kind of pigged out & I literally ended up making myself sick! haha Saturday morning was not good! But I rallied and made it out to Centreville to celebrate my friend Alexis’ son, Apollo’s, third birthday in combination with Apollo’s great grandmother’s birthday. Apollo & Delores were born on the same day 80 years apart! How sweet is that? The whole family came out to celebrate their birthdays – some from as far as West Virginia and at least one from as far as San Francisco! Delores’ celebration was that much sweeter this year since recently learning the cancer she’s been in treatment for has disappeared! Woot woot! I was so impressed with Delores’ sunny disposition & how much her kids and grandkids were lovin’ on her. It was definitely a celebration to remember & I was so happy to be there to document it for this warm, joyful family.
Sunday I made it to yoga and afterwards went for a hike at Fort Marcy off GW Parkway. It was my first time there, but it won’t be my last! This place was just beautiful & I so want to do a photo session there! If there are any adventurous types who don’t mind a short hike in the woods, hit me up! The stream and small beach we found is perfect for a magic hour photo shoot!
*Warning* *Warning* Photos of spiders follow. Scroll at your own risk!* (hahaha I’m cracking myself up over here! Oh, the drama!)
Of course I took my camera on the hike & randomly decided to bring my macro lens. I’m so glad I did! I happened upon this lil’ guy hanging from a leafy plant along the walking path. Spiders sure do creep me out, but I have to admit, he’s (she’s?) really pretty…
After the hike, I headed home. First order of business was giving Milli a bath! If you follow my Instagram stories, you know why. She was filthy! I got her all spiffed up so she could rest while I went out to my maternity session in Alexandria. We were supposed to meet at Green Spring Gardens but guess what? They close at 4:30 every.single.day. Womp womp. Who closes at 4:30 in the summer time?! How do you expect people to get magic hour portraits with your beautiful flowers?? Luckily I had a nearby backup location in mind after location scouting a couple weeks ago. Location scouting FTW! haha We got some beautiful shots & I can’t wait to share more!
Have a great Monday everyone! Check back this week for more photos from recent sessions & a special treat on Wedding Wednesday!
