As a photographer, I’ve definitely kept a running photography bucket list in my head. Some items are on the larger scale side – like ‘try out travel photography in another country’ (check!), and others are smaller – like ‘do Bon Air Memorial Rose Garden family photos.’ Thanks to this sweet family of three, I was able to check that last item off the ol’ photography bucket list two weekends ago! CHECK!
This little park and I have a long history. I had a shoot scheduled here almost two years ago. It was to be my first ever mini session. My clients and I chose this location, excited for the flowers & the greenery, but alas, it was not meant to be. It was pouring rain the morning of the shoot. Pouring. It was impossible to shoot outside, even with the cute clear umbrellas I brought. My clients and I made the most of the shoot at their apartment & the surrounding outdoor area when the rain let up a little, but ever since, I’ve been hoping to do a Bon Air Memorial Rose Garden family photos session.
I actually scheduled a shoot there this spring, thinking it would be the perfect time to shoot at the gardens! We knew the location would be great without the roses, but I was really hoping at least some of them would be in bloom. We arrived the evening of the shoot to find they were not. Womp womp. It worked out though because the gardens have beautiful archways and pergolas with lots of greenery that was in bloom, so the photos actually turned out beautifully. But once again, my bucket list item eluded me.
But finally – FINALLY – my bucket list dreams came true with this beautiful Bon Air Memorial Rose Garden family photos sesh. This wonderful family happily signed up for their session to take place at the gardens & this time I knew for a fact that the roses were in bloom! Woot woot! We met bright and early for morning magic hour & they even brought someone along to stand behind me to get the baby smiling & giggling. Brilliant! We got lots of good grins & laughs out of this adorable tiny human. The gardens were in bloom but his smile is really what brings these images to life!
Big thanks to this family for trusting my location selection, helping me check one small item off my photography bucket list, and for being so darn photogenic! 🙂
