In my dream scenario, the perfect ending to a morning of mountain hiking & zip lining through the jungle would be play time at the Dominican Tree House waterfall. Well the Dance Adventures crew is pretty much in the business of making dreams come true, so of course we ended our hike & zip lining excursion with play time at the Dominican Tree House waterfall!
In my last post, I told you how adventurous I felt hiking to the peak of a mountain & zip lining through the jungle with the Dance Adventures crew. But the adventure didn’t stop there! At the far end of the Dominican Tree House Village is a small waterfall with a rope swing. I’d been eyeing that little pool of adventure all week! When we realized that it was actually at the end of the Samana Zip Lining Adventure, I made sure to wear my bathing suit bottoms so I could take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy the falls & the pool.
As soon as we were done zip lining, we dashed over the waterfall! It quickly became apparent that playing on the rope swing would be a little more challenging than anticipated. The swing was pretty high from the surface of the water & it was difficult to get on it. The local zip lining crew showed us how it worked: you had to grab the swing & drag it to the cliffs surrounding the pool & jump off from there in order to actually swing. Yikes.
I watched as the rest of my brave Dance Adventures buddies climbed their way up the cliff & jumped into the pool below. We watched as the zip lining crew swung from the cliffs over the pool & the waterfall, doing tricks & flips like the bad asses they were! Cat was the first to attempt the rope swing & from there the others followed suit. I was feeling brave after my zip lining adventure & decided to give it a shot! And y’all, I’m so glad I did! It was SO.MUCH.FUN! I should’ve known I would like flying through the air with the greatest of ease. I am a former trapeze artist after all 😉
From there I decided to try my old trapeze & pole fitness skills to try to get up on the rope swing from the water. And it worked! I taught Melaina & Kerilynn to do the same, and we each had fun posing on the swing.
I could’ve spent all day there, but alas, we had to hustle out to lunch. We had definitely worked up an appetite!
P.S. Photo credit to pretty much all of these photos goes to Hannah Snyder. She took charge of the camera while I played in the waterfall. Thank you Hannah!
