HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!

My weekend definitely had an air of love about it. I had the honor of photographing three gorgeous couples, from Alexandria to the Mall in D.C. The weather was perfect for spending so much time outside, which I definitely enjoyed after being home sick for almost two weeks!
I’d say this weekend was actually the perfect mix of work & self care. Friday night I stayed home to relax before getting up early on Saturday for Nicole & Ryan’s Love Birds session in Old Town Alexandria. Ryan is getting ready to deploy with the Army Reserves, so they wanted to capture some photos to commemorate this time before he leaves. We had fun traipsing around Old Town & happened up some gorgeous morning light.
Check back next week to see more images from their Love Birds session!
The rest of Saturday was spent indulging in typical weekend activities: yoga, hair appointment, and hunting down the last of the cherry blossoms at magic hour. I was on the lookout for the Kwanzan blossoms but ended up finding a few of the remaining Yoshino blooms. It was extra special to be there during the evening magic hour, since all my sessions are in the morning. The light is so different! I even had a picture taken of myself… 😛
Sunday was another early morning with an air of love on the National Mall for Kandis & Daniel’s engagement session! We met up where Kandis & Daniel spent much of their first date – on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. I love when clients have a real connection to the spot where we do their photo shoot! From there we walked to the WWII Memorial where off in the distance, I spotted this beautiful pink tree! We hightailed it over there to snap a few last shots before parting ways.
Check back tomorrow to see more of Kandis & Daniel!
Sunday afternoon was spent in Old Town Alexandria for a super secret styled shoot with the up-and-coming wedding planners from Tara Melvin’s (of Perfect Planning) mentoring program. I was one of four photographers & the planner I worked with will be submitting the photos for publication. They have to stay top secret until they’re published, but I can tell you – it was a great experience & an honor to work with such a talented group.
I hope everyone has a fun & productive week! Make sure to check back tomorrow for Kandis & Daniel’s engagement photos, Wednesday for Wedding Wednesday, & Thursday for more Dance Adventures photos!
