The cool thing about being a photographer who takes photos of families is getting to see how the families grow and change over the years. This perspective is amplified when you have known the family longer than when you started taking their photos. Such is the case with the folks in today’s Potomac Overlook Regional Park family portraits.I met Patrick when he was just a little guy, riding the elevator with his mom in our condo building. We used to be neighbors! Even though I knew him as a tiny tyke neighbor, it wasn’t until after I moved out of the building & started my business a couple years later that I got to know him & his mom through photography.
You may remember Patrick & EB from last year’s post, when I photographed them playing & walking around Shirlington together. I was excited to have the opportunity to take pics of them again this past fall during my Potomac Overlook Regional Park family portraits mini sessions marathon! This year Patrick showed up with a glove & baseball to play catch while we did our shoot & I’m glad he did. These images turned out to be some of my favorite of the year!
One thing that I hope comes through in these photos is Patrick & EB’s sense of humor. EB is one of the funniest people I know, and her sense of humor was definitely passed down to Patrick. They.are.hilarious. And super fun to take pictures of! Their sense of humor brought so much life to this shoot, it was seriously a joy to be around them.
One last thing. Being the honest photographer I am, I can’t in good conscience take credit for all of these images. You’ll see one photo of Patrick’s baseball glove laying in the grass. Mr. Patrick took this photo himself. Photo credit goes to him! 😉
