HI, I'M RACHEL!

How was everyone’s weekend? Here in the D.C. area we had great weather for winter so I think everyone was able to enjoy the weekend more than usual. The sun was shining, the air was on the warmer side, & you could get away with maybe two layers instead of four! It’s kind of the off-season for photography, so I’ve been soaking up every free moment & am grateful for this time of rest & restoration. This weekend was just that – except for the Super Bowl. Man that was intense!
I kicked off the weekend at happy hour at Epic Smokehouse with Beth from Canoe Media Services. Beth is a social media & marketing powerhouse, so I was lucky to get some time with her for reviewing my social media strategy & talking about how she can help me with some things in the future. Exciting stuff! I’ll make sure to keep you posted on what we come up with!
I managed to make it to yoga both days this weekend, which I definitely think contributed to the feeling of peace I carried with me through to this morning. If you live in south Arlington, I encourage you to check out Journey Yoga at Penrose on Columbia Pike. They have a variety of classes for different skill levels and classes available at multiple times throughout the day. I love it there!
Saturday I brunched with friends at Founding Farmers in Potomac. Their food is amazing & their cocktails aren’t bad either 😉 Afterwards we carried on our conversation at The Wine Harvest, this adorable little wine shop that also serves food! It was the perfect place to sit & chat over a glass of Prosecco, of course.
Milli lucked out this weekend with two long walks, one at Long Bridge Park in Crystal City, and one in our neighborhood. You may recognize Long Bridge Park from my fall mini-sessions! It’s a great place for a long walk but it looks so much different in the winter than it does in the fall! They chopped down all of the tall grasses, which I loved for catching golden hour light for my mini sessions. Can’t wait til they grow back this spring!
And if you follow me on Instagram, you would’ve seen my Stories about all the cooking I did this weekend! Cooking brings me such joy so I made sure to plan two yummy meals for the weekend: low carb eggplant parm on Saturday & beer battered fish tacos for the Super Bowl! I was rooting for the Falcons in the Super Bowl last night, but I have to admit – the Patriot win made for a great story! The comeback, Brady’s record breaking win, the revenge after what they went through at the beginning of the year. And Lady Gaga’s halftime performance gave me LIFE! I SO needed that.
I hope you all had a great weekend as well! Tell me about it in the comments! What did you do that brought you joy, gave you peace, or gave you LIFE?!
