Welcome to my first Fun Monday post! In these posts I’ll be sharing the fun I had over the weekend as well as what’s in store for the coming week. It’s a little more of a peek into my personal life as well as a way for you to follow along with the exciting things coming up photography-wise. And what better way to kick off Fun Monday than to recount the life affirming, inspirational time I had at the Women’s March in Washington, D.C., this past weekend?!
Following the recent U.S. election, I’ve been eager to participate in something that would be healing & helpful, where I could show my support to the groups of people who have been marginalized, disrespected, and overlooked. I was looking forward to being around a sea of people who are on the same page as I am. A page filled with love, community, equality, patriotism, & respect. The Women’s March delivered on all of that and more!
I was so encouraged by the feeling of camaraderie, the politeness and kindness exhibited among the marchers, and the diversity I witnessed within the group. When the march was over & I returned home where my cell service was finally restored, I was especially humbled to see photos from marches around the world. I don’t have words to express how much it means to see that citizens from dozens of countries were with us, concerned about the same things & peacefully seeking equality in such a strong show of unity.
If you attended a march, I’d love to hear about your experience! Leave me a comment with the most meaningful thing you witnessed on 1.21.2017.
Other than that I had a lot of cocktails & good food this weekend! Following the march we stopped at Boqueria for their cava sangria, serrano pepper margaritas, patatas bravas, & gambas al ajillo (check out their brunch & weekend happy hour!). And on Sunday, I had the most amazing brunch with friends at Farmers’ & Distillers. Best pancakes I’ve ever had & the creme brulee donuts were to.die. We followed it with drinks at Mandu, which were… interesting. I’ll leave it at that 🙂
On tap for this week, more blogging – look for some headshots Wednesday & Thursday! and lots of 2017 planning <3
