HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!

Being a northern VA newborn photographer, it’s such an honor to be invited into people’s homes to photograph them in their natural habitat, so to speak. Especially during such a special time as after the birth of their brand new baby. The houses are always quiet with an undercurrent of excitement.
Arriving at JJ & Robert’s gorgeous south Arlington apartment, I was greeted by two furry little friends: their pet dachshunds! A baby & dogs?! I was in photography heaven. Once the pups were stowed away in their “condos” for the moment, I got to meet precious baby Anna, and we got started taking her photos right away.
We set up near JJ & Robert’s divine floor to ceiling windows at the back of their living room (didn’t I say their apartment was gorgeous?!). It was the perfect spot for clean, bright, natural light to show off baby Anna’s soft newborn skin and blue eyes.
I love when parents have a selection of tiny baby outfits to switch their littles ones in and out of during the shoot. I’ve seen tutus & crocheted USMC outfits, and headbands galore! But the star outfit baby Anna donned during her newborn shoot was definitely a first. Dad, Robert, loves Batman, so we dressed up Annie in the tiniest Batman uniform, complete with a baby sized bat mask! And with that, Anna was having her first fangirl moment.
We wrapped the session in Anna’s nursery where her grandfather’s rocking chair was set up. Mom & dad took turns rocking their newborn as she snuggled in close and the pups, out of their condos, played on the floor. It was the perfect family moment.
Thank you JJ & Robert for welcoming me into your home & allowing me the honor of capturing photos of your adorable baby girl.
