Washington, D.C. Cherry Blossoms Photographer
Peak bloom of the Cherry Blossoms at the Washington, D.C. tidal basin have come & gone, but the photos I was able to capture this year will last a lifetime. The Mocheva family braved the crowds & the 40 degree temperature to meet up with me for family photos, and I am so happy they did because these photos are some of my all-time favorites!
Nina contacted me to set up the session & let me know that this would be a very special occasion to commemorate her father’s yearly visit from out of the country. I personally love being able to capture moments like this for my clients because I know the resulting images will be keepsakes they hold dear far into the future. But I also love that this family put so much value in having photos taken together that they were willing to spend some of their limited time together trekking down to the tidal basin to have their picture taken with the cherry blossoms. Those blooms make everything a little more precious.
The Mocheva family were so good spirited & excited to have their photos taken, despite the early spring chill in the air. The kiddos even toughed it out in short sleeves & did so with smiles on their faces! What little troopers they were! Despite it being 8:30 on a Saturday morning, the tidal basin was already swarmed with tourists & other photographers, but luckily mama Nina spotted an area off the beaten path no one had yet discovered, so we set up shop there for some shots with the cherry blossoms canopy acting as our backdrop. Then we meandered down to the waterfront & carved out a spot for pics with the Jefferson Memorial.
Nina let me know her father didn’t speak very much English, but he didn’t have to speak at all for me to be able to see the love he had for his family. Little Victor & Olivia were thrilled to hang out with their grandfather & it was sweet to witness & capture through my lens.
Thank you, Mocheva family, for your smiley faces & excitement for these photos! It was a pleasure to capture these special memories for your family.
