As the east coast prepares for a winter storm – an actual blizzard – I’m reminiscing about a more mild, autumn storm from this past November. There wasn’t any snow, but much heavy rain fell in Arlington the day of my first mini-session day for family holiday photos. The Thielemans were the gung-ho group who braved the weather & I’m so glad they did, because they got some beautiful outdoor fall portraits to show for it!
So like I said, it was raining heavily on the Saturday I had six photo shoots scheduled! I don’t mind admitting I was panicking. My earlier two sessions suggested indoor shoots, and I offered to reschedule (a rarity!) all of the afternoon sessions for the following day since it was going to be sunny. But like I said, the Thielemans were up for an adventure, took advantage of a break in the rain, and came out to Crystal City for our shoot! My clients really are the best!
My first impression of this family was that they were so stylish! I’m a sucker for a black & white stripe, what can I say? Between Maureen’s killer statement necklace & little Ivy’s mini booties, I knew we were in for one fashionable set of photos! I think Ivy had a blast running around Long Bridge Park, getting out all of that rainy day energy, & I was excited to get some photos of her smiley, happy face with her adoring mom & dad.
I’m thinking of all my mini-sesh families this weekend, and hoping they get to have some fun playing in our northern Virginia snow! Be safe everyone! <3
