HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!

elopements
I tend to get teary eyed during weddings. The processional, the vows, the toasts. They all get me. With this Gramercy Mansion wedding just north of Baltimore, MD, I think we broke the record. And set the bar really high. Christy & Ramon were married this past Sunday & the meaningful moments had this wedding photog choking up multiple times throughout the day. Well done, guys!
Christy & Ramon met at a new student mixer for graduate students at the University of Chicago. It was Christy’s first year & Ramon’s third, and both were smitten right from the beginning. Every single person who toasted the newlyweds at their reception recalled conversations they had with each of these two love birds at the beginning of their relationship, where they said they just knew they had met ‘the one’. Cue the tears!
I think my favorite part of their love story (besides their beautiful & thoughtful wedding day) is how they got engaged. Christy – who did I mention? Speaks Russian! – was in Russia for summer studies and Ramon popped the question overlooking the city of St. Petersburg! He followed it up with dinner in a fancy restaurant, accompanied by opera music & ballet dancing! It doesn’t get any more romantic or more Russian than that!
Christy & Ramon’s wedding day was just as romantic & sweet. They planned the entire day themselves, making sure to infuse every moment with tenderness & meaning. From the chapel playlist filled with instrumental Zelda & Etta James, to the beautiful classic novels & books of poetry as their table settings, Christy & Ramon’s Gramercy Mansion wedding was so wonderfully them.
The highlight of the day for me was Christy & Ramon’s first kiss after taking their vows. They really went for it (haha!) & afterwards had the biggest grins on their faces and everyone cheered! It was the perfect kick off to the rest of their romantic Gramercy Mansion wedding.
I want to wish congratulations & best wishes to the happy couple! Enjoy your honeymoon!

So wonderful to wander through memories of this beautiful day, last Sunday, when our son Ramon became a husband to his lovely, perfect bride Christy. Great pictures!!!
Thank you Ellen!
[…] Two weddings ago it occurred to me: the brides and grooms are going through pretty much the same exact things us photographers/videographers/wedding planners/event coordinators are! If I’m on my feet all day, barely having time to eat, walking the line of dehydration, feeling ‘on’, contorting my body in weird positions, and living off adrenaline, SO IS MY COUPLE. We’re together nearly all day and pretty much have the same schedule! If I feel like I was hit by a truck the day after a wedding, it’s likely my brides and grooms feel the same way! […]
[…] where Erin helped me photograph Christy & Ramon’s wedding last August (see that wedding here), so it was cool to be back in a familiar venue! I can’t share any photos from that wedding […]
